Motor City RAT Pack - Mar.20, 2002

Good morning!

Welcome to spring in Michigan...temperatures ranging from 20 - 60*F,
skies
running blue and bright to thirty different shades of gray - must be
time to
get the bikes out!

While you're prepping that bike for another season of riding, are you
doing
the same for the rider? Are you ready to face another season of
Michigan
drivers, roads, and wildlife? Consider a Motorcycle Safety Foundation
"Experienced Rider Course", available at some of the local community
colleges. Three to four hours in the classroom, and four hours+ on the
range
can be a good thing! It IS possible to teach an old dog new tricks!

I spoke with Jason from Triumph-Detroit yesterday evening and he told
me
that he anticipates NO problems obtaining parts and accessories for the
Triumphs in the coming season, in spite of the fire at Triumph. Bikes,
however, are another story. Triumph has informed their dealers that
production has been halted, possibly for the rest of this model year,
on the
following models: Bonneville, Bonneville America, T100, Speed Four, and
TT600. If you have one of these models ordered, check with your dealer
for
delivery status.

RAT members: April 15 is the deadline for photos and/or articles
submitted
to TORQUE. They must be in Greg Casey's office by that date.

Summer events are starting to sprout like weeds! In the past week, I've
been
contacted by an Ypsilanti business owner who would like to see 20-50
Brit
bikes displayed in front of her store on Michigan Ave. during the
"Downtown
Day" June 14, and I've been contacted by a Triumph owner/rider who has
offered to host a picnic lunch for a group of riders attending the
vintage
bike show at Hickory Corners on June 9. Another local rider has offered
to
lead a group to take part in an ABATE ride in the Pontiac area on May
19.
Let me know if you are interested in participating in any of these
events!

Riders are continuing to meet downtown Ann Arbor on Wednesday evenings,
and
we're starting to see more of them on their bikes!
