Make sure your battery is fully charged, engage the choke, turn the key "on", wait at least 30 or 40 seconds for the carb heaters to do their thing, pull in the clutch, and hit the "start" button! Works on my '01. I also make sure I "stabil"ize the fuel and drain the carbs before I put the bike away for the winter.
